Dr. Bilal Abbas, a distinguished dentist and one of the co-principals at our esteemed practice, is renowned for his exceptional patient care. Farooq works as a consultant orthodontist and specialist. Within his roles, Farooq has gained a variety of skills, knowledge, and experience. He is able to treat both simple straightening of teeth as well as complex bites, both to a very high standard.
He has worked in private practice since 2015, in a variety of practices across the country. He prides himself on effective communication, putting the patient at the center of their orthodontic journey.
Farooq enjoys being involved in teaching and learning. This has led him to occupy a number of roles in teaching. Currently, he is the lead trainer at Guy’s Hospital, where he trains future orthodontists in established and contemporary techniques.
He contributes to the wider orthodontic community through presentations and scientific publications. His recent outlet has been an orthodontic podcast, which aims to provide a summary of key information for orthodontists worldwide. Farooq is a committee member of the British Orthodontic Society’s Consultant Orthodontic Group (COG), where he works with colleagues on national matters.

Dr Simon Critchlow graduated from Newcastle University in 2002. After spending time in a general dental practice, he worked a junior hospital position in Liverpool and Manchester, including oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Simon enrolled on a two-year Master’s Degree programme in Restorative Dentistry, graduating in 2009 he then undertook an additional 5 years of full-time specialist training at the Royal London Dental Hospital.
In 2014 he was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, the highest dental qualification available in the UK. Since 2014 he’s been a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Great Ormond Street Hospital, which provides complex dental treatment for children and teenagers with craniofacial and other disorders.
Simon’s areas of clinical interest are prosthodontics and dental implants.

Ammar Al Hourani qualified from Glasgow Dental School in 2009 and gained an interest in Endodontics early on in his career. Having completed several years as a Senior House Officer and General Dental Practitioner in various specialities including Restorative Dentistry, Oral Medicine, Oral & Maxillofiacial Surgery at Glasgow and Dundee Dental Hospital.
His interest led him to embark on a 3-year full time postgraduate DDSc endodontic training programme at Liverpool Dental School in which he achieved his Membership in Endodontics specialism examination by the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (MEndo RCS Edin). Alongside his training, he completed his Doctorate (DDSc) in Endodontics, his research examined the effect of orthodontic treatment on traumatised teeth and its pulpal implications.
Ammar is currently a Consultant/ Specialist in Endodontics and Clinical Lecturer and alongside his academic role, Ammar works in several private endodontic referral clinics in London, Hemel Hampstead, and Grantham.
Ammar lectures nationally and internationally with many distinguished educational institutes and has a real passion for teaching and academia. He is currently completing his Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education. His passion for education inspired him to create ‘The EndoGuys’. He is the founder and director of this educational platform which serves to help GDPs achieve endodontic excellence through continuous professional education.
