Dr. Bilal Abbas, a distinguished dentist and one of the co-principals at our esteemed practice, is renowned for his exceptional patient care. His reputation for treating anxious and nervous patients precedes him, with patients willing to travel great distances to benefit from his expertise in preventive and restorative dentistry (the furthest patient travels from New Zealand).

Dr. Abbas's approach to examinations offer a soothing experience while imparting valuable information, fostering a warm and professional relationship with each individual.

In addition to his dedication to dentistry, Dr. Abbas finds solace in his never ending fitness pursuits at the gym and shares a loyal allegiance to Manchester United, despite the occasional heartbreak that comes with supporting the team.

Farooq Ahmed

Farooq works as a consultant orthodontist and specialist. Within his roles, Farooq has gained a variety of skills, knowledge, and experience. He is able to treat both simple straightening of teeth as well as complex bites, both to a very high standard.

He has worked in private practice since 2015, in a variety of practices across the country. He prides himself on effective communication, putting the patient at the center of their orthodontic journey.

Farooq enjoys being involved in teaching and learning. This has led him to occupy a number of roles in teaching. Currently, he is the lead trainer at Guy’s Hospital, where he trains future orthodontists in established and contemporary techniques.

He contributes to the wider orthodontic community through presentations and scientific publications. His recent outlet has been an orthodontic podcast, which aims to provide a summary of key information for orthodontists worldwide. Farooq is a committee member of the British Orthodontic Society’s Consultant Orthodontic Group (COG), where he works with colleagues on national matters.

Simon Critchlow

Specialist in Restorative Dentistry

Dr Simon Critchlow graduated from Newcastle University in 2002. After spending time in a general dental practice, he worked a junior hospital position in Liverpool and Manchester, including oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Simon enrolled on a two-year Master’s Degree programme in Restorative Dentistry, graduating in 2009 he then undertook an additional 5 years of full-time specialist training at the Royal London Dental Hospital.

In 2014 he was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons, the highest dental qualification available in the UK. Since 2014 he’s been a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Great Ormond Street Hospital, which provides complex dental treatment for children and teenagers with craniofacial and other disorders.

Simon’s areas of clinical interest are prosthodontics and dental implants.

Dr. Sally McCarthy

Sally is a highly skilled endodontist with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care and advancing the eld of dentistry.  She graduated with honours from the University of Cork, Ireland, in 2012 and has since completed extensive postgraduate training in endodontics, conservative and adhesive dentistry, and corrective periodontal therapy.

Sally further honed her expertise by pursuing an Advanced MClinDent in Endodontology at the renowned Eastman Dental Hospital, where her research focused on dental traumatology graduating with first-class honours, She also holds Membership in Endodontics and MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and is an active member of the British and European Endodontic Societies, as well as the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Her dedication to patient safety and education is evident in her contributions to trauma prevention guidance for the Irish Dental Association and her ongoing clinical research on dento-facial trauma at the Eastman Dental Hospital UCLH. She lectures on the Eastman Dental Institute’s Sports Dentistry MSc program and has been a postgraduate teaching faculty member since 2019. Her accolades include winning the 2022 British Endodontic Society Research Prize and being named a rising star in research by the European Endodontic Society, who invited her to present at their 2023 Biennial Scientific Meeting in Helsinki.

Sally’s advanced technical training enables her to manage complex cases with precision and care. From root resorption and intricate anatomical challenges to instrument separation and endodontic surgery, she takes on some of the most challenging referrals from dentists and self-referred patients. Sally’s gentle approach, coupled with her expertise, ensures that even the most complex cases are handled with skill and compassion
